Mold Remediation
Water damage is a very serious emergency however the initial damage is not always the worst aspect of a loss. It is sometimes what happens when that water festers inside of a structure for an extended period of time. These conditions can promote the growth of mold on various items including many cellulose rich building materials such as drywall, baseboard, and flooring.
To insure the safety of the residents and the integrity of the work performed our mold technicians follow all industry standards according to the IICRC.
The initial setup for a mold remediation can in most cases be the most time consuming part. The setup involves the constructing of a containment that is put under negative pressure by an AFD(Air Filtration Device). These units are equipped with three filters, a primary, secondary and a hepa-filter that catches airborne particulates down to .3 microns. By doing this it creates a vacuum allowing air from the outside of the containment in, but allowing no “contaminated” air from inside the containment out into non affected areas.

F.A.Q.
Q: Is mold Potentially harmful? A.) All in all there are over 100,000 different types of mold. Most of which are potentially harmless to the average healthy adult. However, there are many types of mold that are associated with certain infections in humans. These infections are typically found on parts of the body that have mucus membranes such as your eyes, nose, and throat. Also individuals that have weakened or undeveloped immune systems such as children or elderly people are more susceptible to these infections.
Q: How does mold grow? A.) Mold needs only a few very simple things to grow, a food source, dimly lit area, oxygen and moisture. It decomposes cellulose rich materials such as drywall, wood, and plants. Mold can lay dormant for long periods of time undetected until the conditions for growth occur. Typically when the conditions present itself it takes 48-72 hours to see visible signs of mold. However there are some instances where mold growth can begin even sooner.
